Bank Asia organises ‘AML & CFT confce 2026’

Bank Asia PLC has organised the annual ‘AML & CFT Conference 2026’ with the theme “Fostering & Enduring a Culture of Compliance for Sustainable Business” to enhance Anti-Money Laundering and Combating the Financing of Terrorism knowledge and awareness among the employees of the bank.
Iqtiaruddin Md Mamun, the Head of the Bangladesh Financial Intelligence Unit (BFIU), graced the conference as the Chief Guest, according to a press release.

In his address, he highlighted the prevailing challenges of money laundering and emphasised the importance of raising awareness and strengthening the capacity of reporting institutions.

He also underscored the need for the BFIU and financial institutions to work together as partners and as a cohesive team to accelerate the country’s sustainable economic development.

Sohail R K Hussain, Managing Director of Bank Asia, presided over the conference while Mohd. Ziaul H Molla, Additional Managing Director and Chairman of Association of Anti Money Laundering Compliance Officers of Banks in Bangladesh (AACOBB) was the convener of the conference which was held on 22th August 2026 at Bank Asia Tower, Karwan Bazar, Dhaka.

Md Rokon-Uz-Zaman, Additional Director and Sahalam Kazi, Joint Director of BFIU, attended the conference as resource persons and conducted two separate presentations on Credit-Based Money Laundering and Trade-Based Money Laundering, respectively, highlighting recent typologies and case studies.

Additional Managing Directors, Deputy Managing Directors and other Senior Management team members attended the event physically and around 3000 officials from Divisions, Branches, Centers and Islamic Windows, Agents of the bank participated in the conference through digital platform.
