Heavy rainfall causes waterlogging in Ctg

Due to the influence of a low-pressure area in the northwest Bay of Bengal and adjacent coastal areas, Chattogram city received overnight rainfall.
This has caused waterlogging in various low-lying areas of the city. As the rainfall continued Monday morning, office-going people and pedestrians in these areas suffered.
Water has accumulated on various roads including Muradpur, Katalganj, GEC, and Pravartak in the city. Meanwhile, the Meteorological Office said that a low-pressure area has formed in the northwest Bay of Bengal and adjacent coastal areas.
Due to this, stormy winds are blowing in the seaports, the north Bay of Bengal and the adjacent coastal areas of Bangladesh. Due to this, the seaports of Chittagong, Cox’s Bazar, Mongla and Payra have been asked to display local warning signal number 3.
In addition, fishing boats and trawlers in the north Bay of Bengal have been asked to move carefully near the coast until further notice.
The Meteorological Office has said that the trend of rainfall in coastal areas including Chattogram may continue due to the influence of low pressure.
In the last 24 hours (till 9 am), 189 mm of rain has been recorded in Chattogram. Of this, 109 mm of rain fell in three hours from 6 am to 9 am. The rainfall may continue for a few days.
