277 officers promoted to Dy Secy

The government has promoted 277 Senior Assistant Secretaries and officers of equivalent rank from various cadres to the post of Deputy Secretary.

Separate notifications regarding this were issued by the Ministry of Public Administration on Monday (August 17). The promotions cover 262 officers holding the post of Senior Assistant Secretary and 15 officers currently serving in various embassies.

Officers from various cadres have been promoted, including 190 from the Administration cadre and others from Agriculture, Ansar, Audit and Accounts, Cooperatives, General Education, Family Planning, Fisheries, Health, Information (General), Information (Radio-Programme), Information (Radio-Engineering), Livestock, Police, Postal, Public Health Engineering, Public Works (Civil), Railway (Transportation and Commercial), Railway (Engineering), Roads and Highways, Statistics, Taxes, and Telecommunications.

The order concerning the 262 individuals states that, following their promotion, they have been appointed as Officers on Special Duty (OSD) under the Ministry of Public Administration. If any officer’s office or place of work has changed since the issuance of the promotion order, they must submit their joining report specifying the name and address of their current office or workplace.

The authority reserves the right to amend or cancel this order if any adverse or conflicting information regarding an officer comes to light subsequently. Officers promoted to the post of Deputy Secretary may submit their joining letters to the Senior Secretary of the Ministry of Public Administration either directly or online (e-mail: sal@mopa.gov.bd).

Meanwhile, the promotion orders for 15 officials serving in various embassies state that the Ministry of Public Administration will issue an order upgrading the pay scale of the official’s deputation post, in consultation with the relevant administrative ministry.

Upon the issuance of the order, the promoted official shall join the upgraded post and submit their joining report to the Ministry of Public Administration through the controlling authority. The promoted official will be entitled to the salary and allowances of the upgraded post effective from the date of joining that position.

However, regarding foreign allowances and entertainment allowances, the rates prescribed for the substantive post at the concerned embassy or mission shall apply.

The upgraded pay scale shall remain in effect until the post falls vacant due to the transfer of the concerned officer or for any other reason.
