Truck driver beaten to death in Cumilla

A truck driver has allegedly been beaten to death in Lalmai upazila of Cumilla, with police detaining three people on suspicion of involvement in the incident.

The deceased was identified as Abdur Rashid, 35, son of Abul Kalam of Nishchintapur village in Perul Uttar union of the upazila.

Police, with the help of local people, recovered the body from the Harishchar Railgate area along the Dhaka-Chattogram railway route on Thursday night and sent it to the Cumilla Medical College Hospital morgue for an autopsy, reports UNB.

Lalmai Police Station Officer-in-Charge Mizanur Rahman said injury marks were found on Rashid’s head and body.

He said police detained three people on suspicion of their involvement in the incident and were questioning them.

The detainees are Mohin Uddin, 34, son of Ali Akkash of Nishchintapur village; Md Rakib, 25, son of Roushan Ali of Utsabpadua village, both in Lalmai upazila; and Al Amin, 36, son of Monir Hossain of Satani Shivnagar village in Meghna upazila.
