BGB seizes smuggled Tk 3.83m goods in Sylhet
The Border Guard Bangladesh (BGB) seized smuggled goods worth approximately Tk 38.30 lakh in separate anti-smuggling drives conducted in several border areas of Sylhet.
The personnel of Sylhet Battalion (48 BGB), acting on intelligence reports, carried out raids on Thursday in the border areas under Banglabazar, Bichanakandi, Sonarhat, Kalairag, Tamabil, Pratappur, Sangram and Sripur Border Outposts (BOPs), and seized the contraband, said a release of the Paramilitary Force this noon.
The seized items included 10 Indian cattle, three buffaloes, 1,474 pieces of cosmetics, 595 kg of sugar, 330 kg of chillies, 90 kg of used mobile phone batteries, 45 kg of fuchka, 420 pieces of chocolate, one motorcycle and one trolley.
BGB also seized 1,225 kg of garlic, 540 jerseys and 1,425 kg of betel nuts while those were being smuggled out of Bangladesh, the BGB release added.
The total estimated value of the seized goods is Tk 3,827,475.
