‘Ctg ready for Prime Minister’s Gold Cup’
The Chattogram City Corporation (CCC) is gearing up for the inauguration ceremony of the Chattogram phase of the Prime Minister’s Gold Cup National Football Competition. Prime Minister Tarique Rahman will inaugurate the competition at the Chattogram District Stadium on August 9.
According to the rules, the Chattogram City Corporation (CCC) has various responsibilities in any big event in the city. These include road repair, cleanliness, beautification, lighting, eviction of hawkers, and what not! The responsibilities are even greater in such a big tournament. CCC Mayor Dr. Shahadat Hossain is spending a busy day and night.
The Mayor highlighted the work of the CCC at a preparatory meeting organized ahead of the inauguration ceremony of the Prime Minister’s Gold Cup National Football Competition 2026 at the conference room of the Chattogram Circuit House on Thursday.
The Mayor said that the inauguration ceremony of the Prime Minister’s Gold Cup National Football Competition-2026 will be held at the Chattogram District Stadium on August 9. To make this event a success, coordinated preparations must be made now.
Focusing on the Prime Minister’s visit to Chattogram, necessary renovation, cleaning and beautification work is being done on important roads of the city from the airport to the elevated expressway and stadium.
The work that needs renovation on the airport road is being completed quickly by the CCC.
The concerned parties have also been informed to complete the work required by the Chattogram Development Authority (CDA) at the entrance of the elevated expressway and other places quickly. Planting of flowers and beautification work is underway on important roads including Lalkhan Bazar.
In addition, initiatives have been taken to quickly remove or repair damaged steel structures and other structures on the road.
Time has been given to the concerned parties to remove mobile shops and various structures on the road to keep important roads of the city free from traffic congestion and clean.
If these structures are not removed within the stipulated time, necessary measures will be taken in coordination with the Executive Magistrate of the district administration, police and city corporation.
He sought the coordinated cooperation of the district administration, law enforcement agencies, CCC, CDA, education department, sports organizers, teachers and students to make the opening ceremony a success.
Chattogram Metropolitan Police (CMP) Police Commissioner Hasan Md. Shawkat Ali said that maximum preparations have been made to ensure the safety of players, officials, spectators and all concerned.
Chattogram Metropolitan Police will perform its duties with maximum professionalism, caution and coordination so that the competition is completed in a peaceful and festive atmosphere.
CMP sources said that sufficient police personnel will be deployed in the venue and surrounding areas to ensure necessary security measures, patrol, traffic control and maintain law and order during the competition.
CMP has made all-out preparations to ensure the safety of the city residents and complete the competition in a fair and joyful atmosphere.
Chattogram Deputy Commissioner Mohammad Zahidul Islam Miah presided over the meeting organized by the Chattogram District Administration. Members of Parliament Ershad Ullah and Abu Sufian spoke in it.
Officials from various government departments, representatives of law enforcement agencies, sports-related individuals, and relevant stakeholders were present at the meeting.
