Fulham youngster Farhan set for red-green journey
After Hamza Choudhury, another England-born footballer of Bangladeshi origin is emerging as a new source of hope for the national team.
Fulham winger Farhan Ali Wahid is closing in on his English Premier League debut, while efforts are also under way to bring him into the Bangladesh squad.
With the possibility of seeing the young talent in the red-and-green jersey drawing closer, football fans across the country are eagerly awaiting his arrival.
Farhan dreams of playing in the English Premier League like Hamza Choudhury and at the same time playing for his country in the red and green jersey.
Bangladeshi football fans are also waiting for that day. If this young winger can prove himself on both the Premier League and the Bangladesh National Football team stages, then a new chapter will be added to the history of Bangladeshi football.
Farhan was born in England on December 9, 2006. Although he was born in the UK, his root is in Sylhet. He was attracted to football since childhood. He first joined Chelsea’s academy. He moved to Fulham in 2019 at the age of 12. He gradually made his way to the U-18 and U-21 teams.
He quickly caught the eye with his speed, dribbling and ability to cut in from the left to score goals and assists.
Farhan signed his first professional contract with Fulham in 2025. He played for Fulham as a substitute in the pre-season friendly match against Norwich City. His dream of playing in the Premier League is now closer.
The Bangladesh Football Federation (BFF) is working to add him to the Bangladesh National Football team. Last May, BFF Vice-President Fahad Karim announced, “Farhan and his younger brother Ryan Ali Wahid have agreed to play for Bangladesh. The passport process is progressing. There is a possibility of his debut in the September FIFA window.
BFF officials have expectation to play him in the SAFF Championship in November.”
The BFF official is now more optimistic about Farhan, “Every effort is being made to get him in the September window. There is no doubt that he will be in the SAFF Championship in November.”
