Obituary

Professor Dr. Md. Kayem Uddin passed away at his residence in Mirpur, Palash Nagor at 8:30 PM on August 27, 2026 at night.

He notably served as the Dean of Business Administration Department of Khulna University in 1997 and as Executive Director of the Institute of Cost and Management Accountants of Bangladesh (ICMAB) in 1996.

He was also a visiting Teacher of University of Malaya, Malaysia and taught at the Islamic University of Technology (IUT), Shanto Mariam University, and other private universities in Bangladesh.

He also served as an adviser to the World Bank.

He obtained his BCom. (Hons) and MCom degrees from Dhaka University in 1965 and 1966 respectively. He earned an MBA from Ball State University Indiana USA in 1979 and a PhD from Dhaka University in 1993.

He is the son of the late Kamar Ali of Dafarpur Village in Meherpur District. He was buried in the graveyard of Palash Nagar Mosque.

Prof. Dr. Md. Kayem Uddin made significant contribution to the education sector of Bangladesh.
