BARI holds workshop on tuber crops
A workshop titled “Tuber crops current situation and future prospects” was held at the seminar room of BARI on Sunday, which was organised by the Tuber Crop Research Centre of Bangladesh Agricultural Research Institute (BARI).
The workshop discussed the current production situation of Tuber crops research progress, productivity increase and future plans.
The speakers highlighted the importance of Tuber crop in the country’s food security and agricultural economy and emphasized on taking this sector further through research and technology expansion.
Director of Tuber Crop Research Centre Dr. Nirmal Kumar Dutta presided over the workshop, while Director General of BARI Dr. Md. Manjurul Kadir was present as the chief guest.
BARI Director (Training and Communication) Dr. Reshma Sultana; Director (Research), Dr. Faruk Ahmed; Director (Support & Services Wing), Dr. Md. Mosharraf Hossain Mollah; Director (Planning and Evaluation Wing) Dr. Habib Mohammad Naser were present as special guests.
The keynote address was presented by Project Director (TCRSP) and Chief Scientific Officer (Tuber Crop Research Center) Dr. Md. Khorshed Alam. Senior scientists and officials from various organization were present their also. The workshop was funded by the Tuber Crops Research Strengthening Project (TCRSP), BARI, Gazipur.
