Ityadi brings its root-seeking journey to Lakshmipur

Popular magazine programme Ityadi is set to showcase the history, culture, natural beauty and notable personalities of Lakshmipur in its upcoming episode.

Since the 1990s, the programme has travelled beyond the studio to different parts of Bangladesh, highlighting the country’s folk heritage, civilisation, archaeological sites, tourist attractions and lesser-known stories from remote regions.

Continuing that tradition, the latest episode was filmed in the riverine coastal district of Lakshmipur.

An aesthetically designed stage was set up on the grounds of the century-old Nabin Kishore High School, which carries the legacy of the historic Dalal Bazar Zamindar House.

The episode will feature two special songs. One will be performed by Lakshmipur-born singer Tanjina Ruma and Feni’s Putul Sajia Sultana. Written by Kabir Bakul, the song was composed by Akash Mahmud.

A district-themed musical dance performance will also be presented. Written by Moniruzzaman Palash and composed and arranged by Ujjal Sinha, the song will be performed by Tanjina Ruma and Rajib. Local dancers will take part under the choreography of SK Jahid.

The programme will also feature a special interview with Nishat Mazumder, the first Bangladeshi woman to summit Mount Everest and a celebrated figure from Lakshmipur.

During her historic Everest expedition, Nishat and fellow mountaineer MA Muhit carried a special placard bearing the name of Ityadi.

The episode will include several reports, the popular conversation between Kashem TV’s reporter and his grandson, the regular Letters segment and a number of drama sketches addressing social irregularities and contemporary issues.

The Lakshmipur episode of Ityadi will be broadcast on Bangladesh Television on Friday, July 31, immediately after the 8:00pm Bangla news.
