Trees should be nurtured like children: State Minister Amit

State Minister for Power, Energy and Mineral Resources Anindya Islam Amit on Friday said trees should be nurtured like children.

He said this at a prize distribution ceremony organised on the concluding day of the week- long Tree Planting Campaign and Tree Fair-2026 with the theme “Bangladesh is the first country to plant trees” held on the Town Hall ground of Jashore on Friday afternoon.

Amit also said, “At one time, the middle class used to plant trees with enthusiasm. We were also interested in planting trees when we were young. At the same time, the Prime Minister called on the guardians to plant trees. Just like a guardian develops his child into a human being with the hope of future support”.

The event was presided over by Deputy Commissioner Mohammad Ashek Hasan and was attended by Police Super Syed Rafiqul Islam, Divisional Forest Officer, Social Forest Division, Jashore Amita Mandal, Additional Deputy Commissioner (General) Sujan Sarkar, District BNP President Advocate Syed Saberul Haque Sabu.

District Council Administrator and BNP General Secretary Delwar Hossain Khokon, District BNP Vice President Golam Reza Dulu, President of the Chamber of Commerce Mizanur Rahman Khan, General Secretary of the Institute AZM Salek, among others.

Subsequently, he visited the stalls of the fair and distributed prizes among the winners of the drawing competition organised on the occasion of the tree fair.

After the award ceremony, the organizing committee of the fair extended the fair by two more days at the request of various stall owners participating in the fair and buyers visiting the fair.
