AIUB and Brain Station 23 Partner to Advance AI Research

American International University-Bangladesh (AIUB) and software services company Brain Station 23 have signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) to strengthen collaboration between academia and the technology industry, with a particular focus on artificial intelligence (AI) research and innovation.

Under the agreement, AIUB students will have opportunities to work on real-world industry challenges through their thesis and research projects, with technical guidance and mentorship from engineers and AI specialists at Brain Station 23.

The MoU was signed at the AIUB campus by AIUB Pro-Vice Chancellor and Professor of the Faculty of Engineering Prof. Dr. Md. Abdur Rahman and Brain Station 23 Executive Director M. J. Ferdous, representing their respective institutions.

AIUB Vice Chancellor Prof. Dr. Saiful Islam, Pro-Vice Chancellor Prof. Dr. Md. Abdur Rahman, Dean of the Faculty of Science and Technology Prof. Dr. Dip Nandi, and other senior university officials attended the ceremony.

Brain Station 23 Executive Director M. J. Ferdous, SBU Head Asif Hoque, Technologist Munir Hasan, and other senior officials represented the company.

Speaking at the event, Brain Station 23 Executive Director M. J. Ferdous said, “AI is no longer just a subject of research; it is becoming an integral part of our everyday lives. If students get the opportunity to work on real-world problems while they are still studying, they will be better prepared for professional opportunities both at home and abroad. This MoU with AIUB is an important step in that direction.”

AIUB Pro-Vice Chancellor Prof. Dr. Md. Abdur Rahman said, “AIUB has always been committed to promoting modern and world-class technology education. We have three specialised laboratories equipped with 120 high-performance PCs, along with supercomputing infrastructure, which is unique among universities in Bangladesh.”

Under the partnership, the two institutions will collaborate on research in areas including AI benchmarking, conversational AI, multi-agent systems, vision-language systems and Retrieval-Augmented Generation (RAG), with a focus on developing AI solutions relevant to local needs.

AIUB’s advanced laboratories and computing infrastructure will be used to support the research activities. The partnership will also create internship opportunities for AIUB students at Brain Station 23.

The two institutions will jointly organise hackathons, AI workshops and seminars, and participate in career and innovation fairs as part of the broader collaboration.

The event was coordinated by Prof. Dr. Khandaker Tabin Hasan, Associate Dean of the Faculty of Science at AIUB.
