Sonargaon Museum arranges spl orientation

A special orientation programme and day-long training workshop were held for the data collectors of the ‘Artisan Survey 2026’ at the initiative of the Bangladesh Folk and Crafts Foundation to collect accurate information and data on the country’s grassroots level artisans. This orientation programme was held from Wednesday morning.

Chandra Shekhar Saha, member of the board of directors of the Bangladesh Folk and Crafts Foundation and president of the Bangladesh National Crafts Council, was present as the chief guest at the workshop. Kazi Mahbubul Alam, director of the Bangladesh Folk and Crafts Foundation, presided over the programme.

The speakers said that the ‘Artisan Survey 2026’ is an important initiative to preserve the folk culture and traditional crafts of Bangladesh and to build an accurate database of it.

By collecting data from artisans in a digital and systematic way, a clear picture can be obtained about the current status, potential and needs of the country’s handicraft sector.

They also said that the role of field level data collectors is very important in the successful implementation of this survey.

Their skills, sincerity and accurate data collection will make a significant contribution to the development and planning of the country’s handicraft sector.

The guests also expressed hope that through this survey, it will be possible to move Bangladesh’s handicrafts forward on the path of more prosperous and sustainable development.
