Hiking Event held for Al-Hera International School Cubs

A hiking event was organized for the Cub Scouts of Al-Hera International School, located near the Sanarpar bus stand on the outskirts of the capital.

Held on Thursday morning in a joyful atmosphere, activities such as navigating with a compass, reaching destinations by following instructions in secret messages, measuring building heights using the shadow method with a scale, and estimating road distances via the ‘thumb method’ sparked immense curiosity among the young students.

The hiking event incorporated various activities, including the Cub Promise, Cub Law, motto, signs, the pledge to perform a good deed daily, and the practice of the formal salute.

The Sylheti phrase “Lagche kemon? Bakka bhala” (How does it feel? It feels really good) brought great joy to everyone.

Mohammad Abdul Wadud, the school’s founder and Assignment Editor of The New Nation, addressed the children’s discussion session as the chief guest; the event was presided over by Rabeya Akter, a Cub Leader at Al-Hera International School, and hosted by Shift In-charge Farzana Khan.

The keynote speaker was Md. Aktaruzzaman, Headmaster of the host school. The chief guest remarked that Cub Scouting is an excellent medium for shaping a beautiful life. The wave of joy witnessed among the students today would help foster greater attentiveness in their studies.

Md. Aktaruzzaman also delivered an inspiring address, encouraging the students to aspire to greatness, and urged guardians to remain vigilant and cautious regarding the misuse of mobile phones.
