5 artistes to judge, Tahsan to host show
Tahsan Khan quit acting a few years ago.
He announced his retirement from singing last year. Although he has already signed up for songs and concerts, Tahsan’s name has not been found in any news about any new songs or dramas.
However, he hosted a programme titled ‘Family Feud’ organised by OTT platform Bongo.
He is coming on stage as the host of another show. Tahsan will host the Bangladesh episode of the Eurovision Song Contest ‘Voice of Bangladesh’. Musicians Fahmida Nabi, Hamin Ahmed, Bappa Mazumder, Shouquat Ali Imon and Ankhi Alamgir will serve as judges for the competition.
The European Broadcasting Union (EBU) has been organising the Eurovision Song Contest, the world’s largest and longest-running live music competition, every year since 1956.
The 70th edition of the contest was held in Vienna, Austria, on May 16. Bulgaria won the title for the first time this year. Bulgarian pop star Dara won the top spot with 516 points.
Israel (singer Noam Bettan) came in second with 343 points, and Romania (singer Alexandra Kapitanescu) came in third with 296 points.
According to the rules, Bulgaria, as the winner of 2026, will host the 71st Eurovision Song Contest in 2027.
Canada will officially participate in the main competition for the first time next year as a new country.
In addition, the inaugural edition of Eurovision Song Contest Asia will be held in Bangkok, Thailand for the first time outside Europe. Bangladesh is going to officially participate in the Eurovision Song Contest for the first time.
For that purpose, ‘Voice of Bangladesh’ competition has been organised in Bangladesh. The winner of this competition will participate on behalf of Bangladesh in the new regional version of this international franchise, Eurovision Song Contest Asia 2026.
The grand finale of the first edition will be held in Bangkok on November 14. A total of 10 countries are participating in the Asian edition.
Along with Bangladesh, South Korea, Thailand, the Philippines, Vietnam, Malaysia, Nepal, Bhutan, Cambodia and Laos are participating. The winners of this edition will get the opportunity to participate in the main competition of the Eurovision Song Contest.
Bongo is organising a national selection show ‘Voice of Bangladesh’ to determine who will compete for Bangladesh on the main stage of the Eurovision Song Contest Asia in Bangkok. After the initial selection based on the applications of artists from May to June, a special grooming session is underway with the best 12 contestants.
There are plans to select the final representative of Bangladesh through the grand finale on September 30. On this occasion, Bongo will announce the overall plan of the competition at a programme to be organised at a hotel in Dhaka on July 22, along with introducing hosts and judges of the show.
The entire competition will be seen on the screens of Bongo and NTV.
