Players of Dhaka Mohammedan Sporting Club Limited celebrate after scoring a goal against Arambagh Krira Sangha during their Bangladesh Football League match at the Bir Shreshtha Shaheed Flight Lieutenant Matiur Rahman Stadium in Munshiganj on Saturday.

Dhaka Mohammedan Sporting Club Limited defeated Arambagh Krira Sangha 6-0 at the Bir Shreshtha Shaheed Flight Lieutenant Matiur Rahman Stadium in Munshiganj on Saturday.

Going two goals better, Bangladesh Police Football Club blanked Fakirerpool Youngmen’s Club 8-0 at the Shaheed Barkat Stadium in Gazipur on the same day.

Dhaka Mohammedan’s match was originally scheduled for yesterday in Cumilla. But due to another local sporting event taking place there, the venue was shifted to Munshiganj.

The change of venue seemed to ignite Mohammedan’s performance. They led 2-0 in the first half, while Arambagh conceded another four goals in the second.

Souleymane Diabate scored a hat-trick for Mohammedan. The Malian footballer is considered a homegrown hero for the club.

He led the team to a league title after a 22-year drought. Last season, he played for Dhaka Abahani Limited instead of wearing the black-and-white jersey, but he has returned to Dhaka Mohammedan Sporting Club Limited this season, making a brilliant start with a league hat-trick. Minhajur Abedin Rakib, Sourav Dewan, and Shahriar Emon scored one goal each.

In another match of the day, Bangladesh Police Football Club netted eight goals against Fakirerpool Youngmen’s Club.

They had a 3-0 lead in the first half, and Fakirerpool conceded another five goals in the second half. Police’s Senegalese forward, Mohamed Rassoul Ba, scored a hat-trick in this match. MS Bablu scored a brace, while Rabbi Hossain Rahul, Arman Faisal Akash, and Manik Molla netted one goal each.

Having won all three of their matches, Bangladesh Police Football Club have taken the top of the points table with 9 points from three matches. Police have scored 12 goals across three matches without conceding a single one.

Fortis FC and City Club are jointly in second place with seven points from three outings. Bashundhara Kings, Dhaka Mohammedan Sporting Club Limited, and Dhaka Abahani Limited played two matches each.

Dhaka Mohammedan Sporting Club Limited won both matches, while Dhaka Abahani Limited and Bashundhara Kings dropped points by drawing their games.
