IFIC Bank celebrates golden jubilee with focus on trust

IFIC Bank PLC celebrated its golden jubilee on Saturday, marking five decades of operations.
The bank called for stronger governance, modernised services, and sustained customer trust.
The celebration, themed “50 Years of Unwavering Trust”, took place at the multipurpose hall of IFIC Tower in Dhaka and brought together board members, senior management, bank officials at different levels, and guests, according to the press release.
The bank completed its 50-year journey on 8 October, and on Saturday programme concluded with a ceremonial cake-cutting and group photograph.
Md Mehmood Husain, chairman and independent director of IFIC Bank, attended as the chief guest, according to the press release.
Special guests included Md Ebtadul Islam, chairman of the Risk Management Committee and independent director; Kazi Md Mahboob Kasem, FCA, chairman of the Audit Committee and independent director; and Md Golam Mostofa, chairman of the Executive Committee and a director of the bank, according to the press release.
Addressing the gathering, Mehmood Husain said, “IFIC’s five-decade journey represents a significant milestone in the country’s banking sector. However, sustaining this achievement and building upon it presents an even greater challenge.
As the banking landscape becomes increasingly competitive, customer needs and expectations continue to evolve. Keeping pace with these changes requires a renewed emphasis on good governance, effective management, and modern banking services.”
He said the bank’s ongoing reform and modernisation initiatives were progressing in the right direction. Expressing optimism about the future, he said employees’ collective commitment and coordinated efforts at every level would help IFIC consolidate its position as a stronger, more resilient financial institution.

Ebtadul Islam, Mahboob Kasem and Golam Mostofa also addressed the gathering, expressing their wishes for the bank’s continued prosperity, progress and success.
Earlier, on 8 October, IFIC marked its golden jubilee across its nationwide network of branches and sub-branches through commemorative activities. Colourful rallies, interactive sessions and day-long programmes brought together customers, well-wishers and bank officials, while a ceremonial cake-cutting marked five decades of service and customer relationships. hips.
Founded on 8 October, 1976, IFIC said it has remained closely associated with Bangladesh’s economic progress while bringing banking services closer to people.
The government of Bangladesh holds a 32.75pc ownership stake in the bank, which serves more than 2.5 million customers through over 1,400 branches and sub-branches nationwide.
With a deposit portfolio exceeding Tk55,000 crore, IFIC said it continued to play a significant role in the banking sector.
The bank said it remained committed to expanding modern, accessible and inclusive financial services from urban centres to remote communities, advancing financial inclusion and contributing to Bangladesh’s sustained economic development.
