Dengue claims 3 more lives

Bangladesh reported three more dengue-related deaths and 372 new hospital admissions in the 24 hours until 8:00am on Monday, taking this year’s death toll from the mosquito-borne disease to 37, according to the Directorate General of Health Services (DGHS).

The DGHS said the latest fatalities were reported in Dhaka South City Corporation, Khulna Division and Barishal Division. During the same period, 347 dengue patients recovered and were discharged from hospitals.

Since January 1, a total of 10,857 dengue patients have been admitted to hospitals across the country. 9,786 patients have recovered and been discharged, while 1,034 patients are currently receiving treatment at hospitals.

Health authorities continue to monitor the dengue situation as infections rise during the monsoon season, urging people to eliminate mosquito breeding grounds and seek prompt medical care if symptoms develop.
