Voter registration open until July 31

The Election Commission (EC) will accept applications for new voter registration until July 31, allowing eligible citizens who have yet to enrol to be included in the voter list for the upcoming local government elections.

The move is part of the commission’s preparations to update the electoral roll ahead of the polls expected to begin in October.

According to the EC, anyone born on or before July 31, 2008 will be eligible to apply for inclusion in the voter list if they submit their application by July 31.

As part of the election schedule, the draft voter list will be published on August 9 and displayed at union parishad, municipality and upazila or thana election offices.
