Residents suffer for dilapidated Sonargaon roads

The main road from Uddhabganj to Panam in Sonargaon Municipality, Narayanganj, as well as the existing Thana Road, has remained in a dilapidated condition for a long time. Large potholes have developed at several points along the roads.

Recent rainfall has left these potholes filled with water, making the roads extremely hazardous for commuters.

As a result, pedestrians, motorists and local residents who use the roads every day are facing severe hardship.

Joynal Islam, a local resident, alleged that they had long been hearing that a tender for road repairs had been awarded.

However, no repair or development work has begun. Consequently, the condition of the roads continues to deteriorate.

Residents said that awarding the tender alone is not enough and demanded that repair work begin immediately.

They warned that the water-filled potholes pose a constant risk of accidents.

They added that, particularly at night, the roads have become a “death trap” for pedestrians and motorists.

The residents urged the relevant authorities to intervene without delay. They expressed hope that effective measures would be taken to repair the roads as soon as possible and ease public suffering.
