Nat’l Rural Development Day observed in Tarash

National Rural Development Day 2026 was observed in Tarash, Sirajganj, on Monday with due dignity under the theme, “Prosperous Rural Areas, Bangladesh Above All.”

A colourful rally and a discussion meeting were organised to mark the occasion.
The programme began in the morning with an awareness rally brought out from the Upazila Parishad premises.

After parading through the town’s main streets, the rally concluded at the Upazila Parishad auditorium, where a discussion meeting was held.

The meeting was presided over by Tarash Upazila Nirbahi Officer (UNO) Nusrat Jahan, while Upazila Rural Development Officer Farhadul Islam delivered the welcome address.

Among those who spoke were Officer-in-Charge (OC) Md. Habibur Rahman, Upazila Agricultural Extension Officer Masud Mondal, President of the Upazila Rural Development Association Md. Shariful Islam, former Joint General Secretary of Tarash Municipal BNP Khondaker Saiful Islam, President of Tarash Press Club Professor Sabbir Ahmed, and General Secretary of the Tarash Reporters’ Unity Abdul Barik Khondaker.

The speakers said rural development is essential for the country’s overall progress.

They highlighted the government’s various initiatives and stressed the importance of rural development in achieving the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) and improving the living standards of rural communities.

They also underscored the role of the Bangladesh Rural Development Board (BRDB) in strengthening the rural economy through the promotion of modern agricultural technologies, microcredit support and infrastructure development.

The programme, organised by the Tarash Upazila office of the Bangladesh Rural Development Board (BRDB), was attended by local public representatives, government officials, representatives of various departments, farmers and entrepreneurs.
