



The Bangladesh Meteorological Department (BMD) has forecast rain in parts of the country during the 24 hours commencing at 9:00am on Saturday.
“Light to moderate rain or thunder showers accompanied by temporary gusty wind and lightning flashes is likely to occur at many places over Chattogram and Sylhet divisions, at a few places over Rangpur, Rajshahi, Mymensingh and Barishal divisions and at one or two places over Dhaka and Khulna divisions with moderately heavy to heavy falls at places over Chattogram and Sylhet divisions,” it said.
A mild heat wave is sweeping over the districts of Rajshahi, Pabna, Nilphamari, Panchagarh, Kurigram, Feni and Chuadanga and it may abate from some places.
Day temperature may fall slightly and night temperature may remain nearly unchanged over the country.
Meanwhile, the low-pressure area over northwest Bay and adjoining north Odisha-West Bengal coast intensified into a Well-marked low and now lies over the same area.
The axis of monsoon trough runs through Punjab, Haryana, East Rajasthan, Uttar Pradesh, Bihar, Gangetic West Bengal, the centre of the well-marked low to Assam across Southern part of Bangladesh.
Monsoon is fairly active over Bangladesh and moderate to strong elsewhere over North Bay.
