



Bangladesh Red Crescent Society (BDRCS) hands over more than 40,000 Dengue NS1 Rapid Diagnostic Test kits to the Directorate General of Health Services (DGHS), reinforcing the country’s capacity to detect and respond to the ongoing dengue situation with support from international humanitarian partners.
The formal handover takes place at the BDRCS National Headquarters in the capital on Thursday, where BDRCS Chairman Barrister Md. Abdus Salam presents the testing kits to Professor Dr Halimur Rashid, Director of Non-Communicable Disease Control at DGHS.
The diagnostic kits are procured with strategic support from the International Federation of Red Cross and Red Crescent Societies (IFRC), the Swiss Red Cross and the Danish Red Cross as part of a coordinated initiative to enhance the country’s dengue response.
The initiative is aimed at strengthening DGHS’s diagnostic capability as the country continues to deal with the current dengue situation.
Among those present at the ceremony are Professor Dr Md. Rafiqul Kabir, Vice Chairman of BDRCS Dr Abu Md. Mofakharul Islam (Rana), Treasurer Dr Kabir M. Ashraf Alam, Secretary General Brigadier General Dr S M Humayun Kabir (Retd.), Director of Health and other senior officials from both organisations.
The Dengue NS1 Rapid Diagnostic Test kits are provided through the combined support of the International Federation of Red Cross and Red Crescent Societies (IFRC), the Swiss Red Cross and the Danish Red Cross, reflecting continued international cooperation in supporting Bangladesh’s public health response to dengue.
