Dipu Moni back in jail after treatment

Former Education Minister Dipu Moni was returned to Munshiganj District Jail on Monday after receiving medical treatment at Dhaka Medical College Hospital (DMCH) following a sudden illness in custody.

Assistant Sub-Inspector (ASI) Md Fazlul Haque, who escorted her to the hospital, said Dipu Moni became unwell at the jail in the morning.

She was initially taken to Munshiganj Sadar Hospital. However, as her condition worsened, higher authorities ordered her transfer to Dhaka Medical College Hospital, where she arrived at around 8 am.

After undergoing preliminary examinations in the hospital’s emergency department, she was shifted to the medicine department in the new building for further treatment.

Doctors later discharged her, and she was taken back to Munshiganj District Jail at approximately 10:30 am.

Dipu Moni was arrested on August 19 last year after the fall of the Sheikh Hasina government on August 5 during a mass uprising led by students and the public. She has remained in custody since her arrest.
