6 Titas Gas officials sacked over office corruption

Six employees of Titas Gas Transmission and Distribution Company were suspended for publishing a video of drug use in the office on social media WhatsApp and for being involved in providing illegal gas connections.

The matter of this temporary application was mentioned in a separate letter signed by the company’s Managing Director Shah Newaz Parvez and General Manager (Human Resources) Lutful Haider Masum on Tuesday.

It also mentioned that show cause notices/charge sheets will be issued to the accused Titas Gas driver Md. Abdur Razzak Sheikh (Code No. 09893) and driver Md. Mizanur Rahman (Code No. 09921) at the earliest. It further states that consuming drugs at one’s workplace and during working hours is negligence and misconduct.

Such undisciplined and anti-social activities in the company’s office premises are punishable under the misdemeanor offense under Section 23(4) of the Bangladesh Labor Act-2006.

In addition, Deputy Assistant Engineer Mahmudul Hasan Rakib (Code No. 02244), Assistant Manager Md. Anwar Hossain (Code No. 02420), Government Manager Rezaul Haque (Code No. 01838), Deputy Assistant Engineer Ziaul (02263) were brought under punishment for corruption such as allowing illegal gas use in a washing factory in Aminbazar Salehpur area. And citing these issues, the accused persons were temporarily suspended from the company’s service.

Titas Gas Transmission and Distribution PLC Managing Director Shahnewaz Parvez has adopted a zero tolerance policy against corruption at Titas Gas.
