Sylhet DC visits Shahjalal shrine

After installing a donation box at the Hazrat Shahjalal (RA) Shrine in Sylhet on the initiative of the district administration, this time Sylhet Deputy Administrator Md. Sarwar Alam visited another saint Hazrat Shahparan (Rah.) Shrine.

He visited the Shahparan Shrine before Friday prayers. Before the prayers, the Deputy Administrator gave a speech at the shrine mosque.

During this time, he gave various instructions to bring transparency in the income and expenditure of the shrine and stop alcohol and marijuana gatherings at the shrine.

During this, the Deputy Commissioner Md. Sarwar Alam said, the saints are lying on this ground, we believe that Allah protects us from any calamity through their intercession.

Some work needs to be done to develop the shrines and mosques of these saints. Planned development is needed.

A master plan should be made centered around these shrines.
There will be a medical center here.

There will be arrangements for women to pray. There will be adequate security arrangements. Asked what people want in terms of donations, he said, people want something to be done with their donation money and there will be transparency in the use of their donation money. No one will kill them.

Then they will donate with all their heart. People want transparency and accountability. Requesting the shrine authorities, the District Administrator said, these shrines are holy places. The income of these shrines must be transparent.

If it is not transparent, people will not have confidence in them. He said, there will be another request, that no liquor and marijuana gatherings be held in these shrines.

These allegations come to us often – someone is drinking alcohol at the shrine, smoking marijuana. This cannot be done. This is a legal crime, another is committing a crime while sitting in a holy place. But we will take a strong stand on this issue now.

If someone commits a crime at the shrine, the punishment will be doubled. We will have intelligence surveillance.
He said, we want transparency and beauty. In this way, the purpose for which the saints and saints were coming will be achieved.

Here, purity should really come to mind. We have to ensure that environment. Stating that the government will not take a single penny from the income of the shrine, he said, but do not collect the donations from the shrine by hand. Take them in a box. Maintain transparency.

I want your cooperation. Earlier on Thursday (June 18), at around 4 pm, the district administration set up a donation box in the presence of Additional District Administrator Masud Rana, promising to bring transparency in the income and expenditure of the shrine of Hazrat Shahjalal (RA).

At the same time, three donation boxes in the shrine were sealed. Along with the installation of the donation box, Ansar members were also deployed for security.

However, the devotees of the shrine have expressed anger and dissatisfaction. According to local administration sources, last Friday (June 12), Sylhet Deputy Commissioner Md. Sarwar Alam visited the shrines of Hazrat Shahjalal (RA) and Hazrat Shahparan (RA).

At that time, he announced that he would take initiatives to ensure transparency and accountability in the management of the income and expenditure of the shrine.

As part of this, the previous donation box in the shrine was sealed on Thursday afternoon and a new donation box was installed. In addition, the three historical donation boxes used to keep cash and other items donated by people in the shrine were sealed.
