



Newly appointed Chairman of the Mymensingh Development Authority (MDA), Motahar Hossain Talukder officially assumed office on Thursday, pledging to transform Mymensingh into a modern and livable city through planned infrastructure development.
The formal activities of the Mymensingh Development Authority commenced on Thursday (June 18) at its temporary office located in the Public Works Department building in Mymensingh city.
On the occasion, Superintending Engineer Shafiqul Islam and Executive Engineer Arnab Biswas of the Public Works Department, along with other officials, welcomed the new chairman with floral greetings. Leaders of the BNP and its affiliated organizations also attended the event to congratulate him.
Speaking at a discussion meeting organised to mark the occasion, Chairman Motahar Hossain Talukder expressed his gratitude and said that the Mymensingh Development Authority would take necessary initiatives to ensure the planned development of the city.
He further said that he had been entrusted with the responsibility of implementing the vision of planned urban development under the leadership of Tarique Rahman. “With the cooperation of people from all walks of life, our goal is to develop Mymensingh into a well-planned residential city.
We will work in coordination with the administration and all stakeholders to implement the government’s development plans,” he added.
Among those present at the meeting were BNP Joint Secretary General and Administrator of Mymensingh Zila Parishad Syed Emran Saleh Prince, Administrator of Mymensingh City Corporation Rukunuzzaman Rokon, Additional Deputy Commissioner (Revenue) Azim Uddin, Convener of Mymensingh Metropolitan BNP Professor Shafiqul Islam, Convener of North District BNP Enayet Ullah Kalam, and Senior Joint Convener of South District BNP Alamgir Mahmud Alam, along with leaders and activists of the BNP and its affiliated organizations.
Speakers at the meeting stressed the need for coordinated efforts among all relevant government agencies to ensure planned urbanization. The newly appointed chairman was later accorded a floral reception.
After the meeting, Chairman Motahar Hossain Talukder told journalists that the authority would work consistently to transform Mymensingh into a modern, planned, and sustainable city, adding that public cooperation would be its greatest strength.
