Afroza Abbas new chairperson of Jatiya Mohila Sangstha

Afroza Abbas, President of Jatiyatabadi Mohila Dal, has been appointed as the Chairperson of Jatiya Mohila Sangstha (National Women’s Organization) for a two-year term.

The appointment was announced through a notification issued on Tuesday by the Contract and Foreign Appointment Wing of the Ministry of Public Administration.

According to the notification, Afroza Abbas, wife of the Prime Minister’s Political Adviser Mirza Abbas, has been appointed following a proposal from the Ministry of Women and Children Affairs under Sections 8(1) and 8(2) of the National Women’s Organization Act, 1991.

She will serve as chairperson for two years from the date of assuming office.
The notification stated that the government reserves the right to terminate the appointment at any time before the completion of the tenure if necessary.

It also mentioned that the chairperson may step down from the position at any time by submitting a signed resignation letter to the government.

The appointment is honorary in nature and carries no remuneration, according to the notification.
Jatiya Mohila Sangstha has long been engaged in promoting women’s development, empowerment, skills enhancement and greater participation in socio-economic activities across the country.

Stakeholders expressed optimism that the organisation’s programmes and activities would gain further momentum under the leadership of the newly appointed chairperson.
