CDA Chairman pledges integrity, development focus

Chattogram Development Authority (CDA) Chairman Engineer Belayet Hossain has pledged to carry out his responsibilities with utmost sincerity, integrity, and accountability, emphasising coordinated efforts to ensure the city’s sustainable development.

He made the remarks while speaking to journalists at Shah Amanat International Airport in Chattogram on Sunday after returning from Dhaka.

The CDA Chairman said that honesty, transparency, and accountability would remain the guiding principles of his work.

He added that his primary focus would be to go beyond personal or institutional interests and work for the welfare of city residents and the long-term development of Chattogram.

He acknowledged that, despite being one of the key drivers of the national economy, Chattogram continues to face a range of urban challenges, including waterlogging, unplanned urbanization, and lack of coordination among service delivery agencies.

To address these issues, he stressed the importance of strengthened coordination among relevant bodies, including the Chattogram City Corporation (CCC), WASA, Power Development Board (PDB), Gas Department, and Traffic Department.

He also said that priority would be given to the timely completion of ongoing development projects while ensuring that new initiatives are designed in a way that minimizes public suffering.

Regarding urban planning, he emphasized the need for scientific and modern approaches to city development.

He noted that future projects would be formulated in consultation with urban planners, environmentalists, researchers, and other experts to ensure sustainability and effectiveness.

He concluded by expressing his commitment to providing the citizens of Chattogram with a modern, safe, and sustainable city through coordinated and responsible development efforts.
