7,629cr taka earmarked for 18 urban dev projects

7,629 crore 54 lakh taka was allocated for 18 projects for urban development in the proposed budget for the new fiscal year (2026-2027).

Out of this, Tk 1,71 crore 93 lakh was allocated for three projects of CDA and Water Development Board to alleviate waterlogging. Although there is a project of Chattogram City Corporation (CCC) to alleviate waterlogging, no allocation has been made there.

This information was revealed by analyzing the budget for the 2026-2027 fiscal year announced last Thursday. The size of this year’s budget is Tk 9,38,000 crore.

Like last time, Chattogram has received importance in the budget this time too. Out of this, Tk 3,103 crore was allocated for 13 projects of the city’s service organizations Chattogram City Corporation (CCC), CDA and WASA. Among these three organizations, CCC has received the least allocation.

According to the information obtained from the analysis of the proposed budget, the money allocated for urban development will be spent on infrastructure development including roads to alleviate waterlogging and development of water supply and sewage systems.

In addition, 697 crore 91 lakh has been allocated for the Kalurghat Bridge construction project. A total of 1,314 crore 36 lakh 95 thousand taka has been allocated against 6 projects of CDA. In the last fiscal year (2025-2026), the organization’s allocation against the same project was 1,700 crore taka.

In the revised budget, it came to 1,852 crore 62 lakh 47 thousand taka. 1,409 crore 47 lakh 50 thousand taka has been allocated for 5 projects of Chattogram WASA. In the last fiscal year (2025-2026), 802 crore 98 lakh taka was allocated against various projects of the organization, but in the revised budget, it increased to 1,678 crore 35 lakh 29 thousand taka.

Chattogram City Corporation (CCC) has allocated 380 crore taka for two projects. In the last fiscal year (2025-2026), the allocation for the four projects of the corporation was 700 crore 1 lakh taka. Which came to 698 crore 52 lakh taka in the revised budget.

No allocation has been made for the two projects this time as the term has expired. Outside the service organization, 3,706 crore 70 lakh taka has been allocated for the two projects of Chittagong Port. In the last fiscal year (2025-2025), the allocation for the two projects of the corporation was 2,849 crore 50 lakh. The revised budget of which is 946 crore taka.

In addition, 166 crore 50 lakh taka has been allocated for the two projects of the Public Works Department and the Water Development Board. In the last fiscal year (2025-2026), the allocation for the two projects was 520 crore 65 lakh taka.

The revised budget of which is 376 crore 63 lakh taka. Two projects of CCC, Tk 250 crore was allocated for the construction project of the cleaners’ residence under the CCC, and Tk 355 crore was allocated for the development of various roads including the airport road and important infrastructure development projects (1st revised) under the CCC. CDA’s six projects.

Tk 250 crore has been allocated for the City Outer Ring Road Project (4th revised from Patenga to Sagarika), Tk 21 crore 96 lakh 58 thousand for the construction of elevated expressway from Lalkhan Bazar to Shah Amanat Airport (2nd revised), Tk 250 crore for the construction of road from Kalurghat Bridge to Chaktai Canal along the banks of the Karnaphuli River (2nd revised).

Tk 777 crore 93 lakh 33 thousand for the ongoing mega project to reduce waterlogging (1st revised), Tk 5 crore 85 lakh 89 thousand for the Preparation of Chattogram Metropolitan Masterplan (2020-2041) (1st revised) project and Tk 8 crore 61 lakh 15 thousand for the expansion and development cluster project of important roads in Chattogram city.

Among the 5 projects of Chattogram WASA, 760 crore taka has been allocated for the Chattogram Metropolitan Sewerage System Installation Project (Phase I), 62 crore 13 lakh 50 thousand taka for the Chattogram Metropolitan Sewerage System Development Project (Catchments 2 and 4), 219 crore taka for the Uttar Kattali Catchment Sanitation Project of Chattogram Metropolitan.

217 crore 84 lakh taka for the Chattogram Water Supply Development Project, and 150 crore 50 lakh taka for the land acquisition project for the construction of a sewage treatment plant in the Kalurghat area of Chattogram Metropolitan. Two projects of Chattogram Port Authority (CPA), 1,641 crore 70 lakh taka has been allocated for the Matarbari Port Development Project (CPA part and second revised) and 2,650 crore taka has been allocated for the Roads and Highways Department part of the same project.
