Karmasangsthan Bank leads loan disbursement to small enterprises

Karmasangsthan Bank has been recognised by Bangladesh Bank for its pivotal role in driving employment generation under the Supporting Post-COVID-19 Small-Scale Employment Creation Project (SPCSSECP).
The Asian Development Bank (ADB) funds the project, which is implemented under the supervision of the Bangladesh Bank.
A seminar entitled “Inclusive Finance and Enterprise Development” under the SPCSSECP was held on Thursday, at the Jahangir Alam Conference Hall, Bangladesh Bank head office, according media reports. Nurun Nahar, Deputy Governor of Bangladesh Bank and chief guest, presented a certificate of appreciation to Arun Kumar Chowdhury, Managing Director of Karmasangsthan Bank.
The certificate recognised Karmasangsthan Bank’s institutional commitment to expanding the SPCSSECP programme and its effective role in advancing financial inclusion at the grassroots.
It further noted Karmasangsthan Bank’s contributions to fostering women’s entrepreneurship, generating employment opportunities, and expanding economic activities through the programme.
The bank disbursed the highest volume of loans to cottage, micro, and small enterprises (CMSEs) among the 11 participating banks and financial institutions.
Bangladesh Bank Executive Director and SPCSSECP Project Director Manoj Kumar Howlader; Additional Director and Deputy Project Director Dr Shirin Akter; GFA Consulting Group Team Leader Ali Sabet; representatives from the Economic Relations Division of the Ministry of Finance; and senior officials from various banks and financial institutions attended the event.
