Message from President BMCCI
On behalf of the Board of Directors and members of the Bangladesh-Malaysia Chamber of Commerce and Industry (BMCCI), I extend our warmest greetings and heartfelt congratulations to the Government and the brotherly people of Malaysia on the auspicious occasion of 69th National Day.
Observed annually on August 31, this date marks Malaysia’s historic liberation from British colonial rule in 1957. Beyond celebrating a proud legacy of national progress, the occasion provides an opportunity to strengthen our partnerships with the brotherly people of Malaysia. Built on a shared history, strong economic ties, and deep cultural connections, the Bangladesh-Malaysia relationship has flourished since Malaysia, was one of the earliest nations to officially recognize Bangladesh’s independence on January 31, 1972. Since then, both countries have made significant progress in strengthening their bilateral relationship.
Bangladesh and Malaysia share a strong and growing business relationship. Malaysia is one of Bangladesh’s top trading partners, with bilateral trade between the two countries increasing over the years. Malaysian companies have invested in various sectors in Bangladesh, including energy, telecommunications, and infrastructure.
The business relationship between Bangladesh and Malaysia will continue to grow in the coming years. With its fast economic growth, strategic position, active regional engagement, and close ties to Bangladesh, Malaysia has become a crucial bilateral partner for our trade and business.
Today, the greatest strength of the Bangladesh-Malaysia relationship lies in the exceptional connectivity between our top leadership. Prime Minister H.E. Tarique Rahman had made Malaysia his first destination of his overseas visit, after assuming office in February 2026, following a gracious invitation from Prime Minister H.E. Dato’ Seri Anwar Ibrahim. During their official discussions on June 22, 2026, both leaders reviewed our growing ties and explored new opportunities in Trade, Investment, Human Resources, Semiconductors, Halal, and Renewable Energy, committing to sustain regular high-level exchanges to take our partnership to unprecedented heights.
This year holds profound significance as we proudly reflect upon BMCCI’s remarkable 25-year legacy. Through strategic initiatives, high-level delegations, and targeted sectoral engagement, we continue to promote Trade and Commerce between our two economies. Our G2B agreements with Malaysian Institute of Microelectronic Systems Berhad (MIMOS) in the presence of both Heads of the Government in August 2025, marking a new era of cooperation in semiconductor innovation, talent development, and startup collaboration. BMCCI has been also working relentlessly to develop Halal Ecosystem with the assistance of Malaysian Experts.
The deep-rooted ties between Bangladesh and Malaysia shows the true power of diplomacy, economic synergy, and vibrant cultural connections. As we commemorate Malaysia’s 69th National Day, I extend my warmest wishes to the people of Malaysia on this momentous occasion. May our partnership continue to flourish, cementing the bonds between Dhaka and Kuala Lumpur for generations to come.
