Dooley to test Cuba

Head Coach of Bangladesh national football team Thomas Dooley has announced a 28-member preliminary squad for the ASEAN Cup recently.The players has already completed two days of training.

Thomas Dooley has not yet announced the names of expatriate footballers playing in overseas leagues, as he wishes to assess some of them individually.

England-based footballer Cuba Mitchell had been part of the national team camp before but Coach Dooley wants to observe Cuba in training for two or three days, but it appears he would have to travel at his own expense.

Questions have arisen in the football community as to why a player who has already played for the national team should have to come at his own cost to undergo a trial.

Duli replied, “I don’t see any problem here. Anyone wishing to return to the national team must come forward and undergo an assessment before the new coaching staff.

They have to prove they are better than the others; if they perform well and are selected for the squad, the federation will cover their flight expenses.”

Alongside Cuba, Goalkeeper Saif, Suki Itfaka, and current U-20 squad members Adam Abbas and Zidan will also have the opportunity to train with the national team for two to three days.

The Coach will make a decision regarding them based on their performance in that training session.
