World Bank’s RUTDP workshop held in Ramgarh

A workshop under the World Bank-funded Resilient Urban and Territorial Development Project (RUTDP) was held in Ramgarh, Khagrachari, on Tuesday to formulate a long-term development roadmap for the municipality, focusing on sustainable urban growth, infrastructure investment and climate resilience.
The workshop focused on the preparation of a Cluster Development Plan, Capital Investment Plan, Municipal Development Plan, and Climate-Resilient Action Plan aimed at formulating a long-term and sustainable development strategy for Ramgarh Municipality.

The event was presided over by Ramgarh Municipality Administrator and Upazila Nirbahi Officer Kazi Shamim. Among those present were Project Gender Specialist Sajeda Begum, Project Assistant Engineer Mosharraf Hossain, Khagrachari District BNP Vice President Hafez Ahmed Bhuiyan, Upazila BNP President Md. Jasim Uddin, Municipal BNP President Md. Bahar Uddin, General Secretary Sefayet Ullah, Jamaat Secretary Md. Anwar Hossain, NCP Upazila Coordinator Md. Harun Or Rashid, Ramgarh Press Club President Nizam Uddin Lavlu, Press Club Secretary Md. Nizam Uddin, and others.

The session was moderated by Municipality Secretary and Assistant Engineer Arnab Chakma.
Workshop Team Leader and Project Gender Specialist Zaheda Begum said that 81 municipalities and six city corporations, including Ramgarh Municipality, have been included in the project.

The six-year project will be implemented through joint financing by the World Bank and the Government of Bangladesh. The estimated project cost is Tk 5,901.22 crore.

The project was approved by the World Bank’s Board of Executive Directors on June 21, 2024, and subsequently approved by ECNEC on October 7, 2024.

Members of the Ramgarh Municipality TLC Committee, political leaders, and media representatives participated in the workshop. Social management specialists of the project, MTA Mahmud, Hasibul Haque, and Mapruda Parveen, were also present.
