Rabindranath is the master of Bengali literature Power Minister

Power Minister and BNP Standing Committee member Iqbal Hasan Mahmud Tuku said, “Rabindranath is the master of Bengali literature.

That is why we celebrate Bengali literature and Rabindranath on this day. The poet composed many songs, poems, and stories here. We are observing various events at his memorial Kacharibari. Bengalis remember his poems and songs, and this arrangement is to recite them. The people of the country are happy today.”

He said these words while addressing as chief guest at a three-day program at Rabindra Kacharibari in Shahjadpur, Sirajganj, on the occasion of the birth anniversary of the world poet Rabindranath Tagore on the morning of 25 Baishakh.

Deputy Commissioner Aminul Islam presided over the program organized on this occasion. State Minister for Health and Family Welfare MA Muhit attended the event as a special guest.

Marking of Rabindranath Tagore’s birth anniversary (25 Baishakh), Shahjadpur Rabindra Kacharibari in Sirajganj has been beautifully decorated, creating a festive atmosphere.

On the occasion of his 165th birth anniversary, Rabindra enthusiasts will celebrate the poet’s birthday through various programs over three days. The Kacharibari and auditorium, both memorials to the great poet, have been newly renovated and illuminated.

Shahjadpur was once part of Rani Bhavani’s zamindari. Rabindranath Tagore’s grandfather Prince Dwarkanath Tagore purchased this zamindari in Shahjadpur for only Tk 13 and 10 annas in 1840. From 1890 to 1897, poet Rabindranath Tagore used to visit and stay in Shahjadpur to manage the zamindari.

While staying here, the poet composed works such as Sonar Tori, Chitra, Chaitali, Kalpana, short stories including Postmaster, Ramkanai’s Illusion, Atithi, Hungry Stones, and other works such as Bisarjan, along with essays and literary writings. He also played an important role in the development of trade, economy, culture, and education in this region, which still influences the lifestyle of the people of Shahjadpur.

As a result, every year there is great enthusiasm and anticipation among local people for celebrating Kabiguru’s birth anniversary, creating a festive mood in the area.

This year, special arrangements have been made to celebrate the 165th birth anniversary of Rabindranath Tagore at Kacharibari in a different atmosphere. Cultural performers from various organizations will participate in the program.

Shauli Talukder, Custodian of Rabindra Kacharibari, said that the auditorium and museum have been decorated and illuminated to make the festival successful, and it is open to all.

Shahjadpur Upazila Executive Officer Sabrina Sharmin said that, on the initiative of the district and upazila administration, a three-day program will be held on May 8, 9, and 10 on the occasion of the birth anniversary of Kabiguru on 25, 26, and 27 Baishakh.

A Rabindra Mela has also been organized. During the celebration, local and foreign Rabindra enthusiasts will visit Kacharibari. All preparations have been made accordingly, and additional security measures, including round-the-clock CCTV surveillance, have been ensured.
