Wrong question paper given in N’ganj

On the first day of the SSC examinations in Sonargaon, Narayanganj, allegations surfaced that students were given the wrong question paper.

Following intervention by the Upazila administration, the exam was cancelled after about 1 hour and 40 minutes and was retaken using the correct 2026 syllabus question paper. The incident occurred on Tuesday (April 21) at the Kanchpur Omar Ali High School exam center.

According to students, the exam began at 10:00 AM, and 177 candidates in three rooms were mistakenly given the 2025 question paper. Although students quickly informed the invigilators, no immediate action was taken.

Later, around 11:30 AM, the mistake was acknowledged, and the correct 2026 question paper was distributed. An additional one and a half hours were reportedly granted.

However, students complained that despite the extra time, their answer scripts were collected before the full extended time had elapsed, causing further distress.

Guardians also expressed strong frustration, blaming the negligence of the center secretary, Abdul Matin Sarkar, for the confusion. They warned that if the students’ results are affected, the authorities must take responsibility.

To bring the situation under control, Sonargaon Upazila Nirbahi Officer (UNO) Asif Al Zinat intervened promptly. He contacted the Chairman of the Dhaka Education Board to ensure the supply of the correct question paper and approved an additional 1 hour and 40 minutes for the exam.

UNO Asif Al Zinat stated that the mistake occurred when a question paper intended for irregular candidates was mistakenly distributed to regular candidates. Immediate corrective measures were taken upon discovering the error. He also confirmed that the center secretary, Abdul Matin Sarkar, has been relieved of his duties.
