Voluntary blood donors’ recognised

Quantum Foundation, a welfare organisation holds a voluntary blood donors recognation ceremony.

Speaking at the event Vice-Chancellor of the University of Information Technology and Sciences (UIITS), Professor Dr Md Abu Hashan Bhuiyan said that voluntary blood donors are, in fact, messengers of humanity.

He made the remarks on Tuesday afternoon while speaking as the chief guest at a voluntary blood donors’ recognition ceremony organised by Quantum at the IDEB auditorium in Kakrail, Dhaka. On the occasion, he also handed over certificates, crests and medals to encourage voluntary blood donors.
Quantum honoured more than 300 voluntary blood donors who had donated blood at least three, 10, 25 and 50 times.

It was informed at the event that since the launch of its laboratory, Quantum has been able to provide blood support to over 1.7 million people, including more than 400,000 thalassaemia patients.

The programme was chaired by Pro-Vice Chancellor of East West University Dr Ashik Mosaddik, while Quantum Foundation’s Voluntary Blood Donation Programme Director M Rezaul Hasan delivered the welcome address.

Emotional reflections were shared by regular donors, including 50-time donor Nurul Muktadir Bappi and 26-time donor Wasim Md Adnanul Haque.

Thalassaemia patient and regular blood recipient Sumiya Akter Simi and Juman Al Saad also shared their experiences.

The organisers expressed gratitude to all voluntary blood donors on behalf of Quantum Lab, and speakers called upon young people to come forward to help meet the country’s growing blood demand through voluntary service.
