Argentina’s good luck, Egypt’s bad luck

Argentina won the FIFA World Cup round of 16 match against Egypt as it was Argentina’s good luck and Egypt’s bad luck. Argentina reached the quarter-finals as luck favoured them on Tuesday.

There are lot of questions about the refereeing of the match between Argentina and Egypt. Specially the referee had to take decision of Mohamed Salah’s foul after watching the help of Video Assistant Referee (VAR) system.

However, France are favourites for this World Cup. And the next are Argentina, which team can clinch the trophy of FIFA World Cup 2026 and retain their title.

The four semi-finalists teams of this World Cup will be France England, Argentina and Spain.

Either Lionel Messi of Argentina or Kylian Mbappe of France or Erling Haaland of Norway will win the Golden Boot Award. But it depends how many match can they get chance to play.

FIFA, the highest governing body of world football has taken a good initiatives as this World Cup is a 48-team tournament and nest World Cups will be also a competitions of 48 teams.

This World Cup is a month-long football meet and tens of thousands spectators can watch the lot of matches. But I prefer European countries for hosting the World Cup as the more spectators can get opportunity to watch more matches of ‘Greatest Show on the Earth.’

I am little bit frustrated about Bangladesh’s football. The Bangladesh-origin expatriates players performed well in the AFC Asian Cup Qualifiers recently but there is a shortage of footballers in pipe line. Bangladesh Football Federation (BFF) should take proper planning if it want to flourish the football of Bangladesh.

BFF and the Government of Bangladesh should take a master plan for the development of our football. Specially at least four grounds in Dhaka City are needed to stage the matches of local football. Besides, a standard stadium each in the eight divisions can attract the spectators of the country.

The gala match between Dhaka Mohammedan Sporting Club Limited and Bashundhara Kings, Dhaka Mohammedan between Dhaka Anahani Limited, Dhaka Abahani between Bashundhara Kings should take place in the National Stadium.
