Govt committed to raising living standards Minister Ariful Haque Chowdhury

The government is committed to improving the standard of living of the common people. This small effort by the District Council will help meet the needs of marginalized people and support them in becoming self-reliant.

We want every citizen to benefit from state facilities said Ariful Haque Chowdhury, MP, Minister of the Ministry of Labour and Employment and the Ministry of Expatriates’ Welfare and Overseas Employment.
Financial assistance has been provided to various individuals and organizations from the Sylhet District Council’s own funds in the 2025-2026 fiscal year.

On Friday, checks for this financial assistance were handed over to over two hundred helpless, distressed, and underprivileged people, including July fighters, at a program organized at the District Council auditorium.

The welcome address was delivered by District Council Executive Officer Anupama Das and Administrative Officer AKM Kamaruzzaman Masum, while the vote of thanks was delivered by District Council Chief Executive Officer Sandeep Kumar Singha.

Deputy Commissioner of Sylhet, Sarwar Alam, was present as a special guest at the event.
BNP National Executive Committee Co-Organizing Secretary Miftah Siddiqui, Sylhet Metropolitan BNP Acting President Rezaul Hasan Kayes Lodi, General Secretary Imdad Ahmed Chowdhury, Red Crescent Society Sylhet Unit Vice Chairman Badruzzaman Selim, and other district and metropolitan BNP leaders also spoke.

Sylhet District Council Administrator Abul Kaher Chowdhury Shamim presided over the meeting, stating that the grants were provided after selecting genuine beneficiaries with transparency and accountability. More than two hundred people have been included in this list considering education, medical care, and social welfare.

He added that this humanitarian activity of the District Council will continue in the future.
After the discussion meeting, the chief guest and special guests formally handed over the donation checks to the beneficiaries.

After receiving the assistance, the attendees expressed deep gratitude for this initiative of the Zilla Parishad.
