NCC begins eviction drive to free footpaths in N’ganj
The Narayanganj City Corporation has launched an eviction drive aiming to ease long-standing traffic congestion and reduce public suffering caused by illegal occupation of footpaths. The initiative aims to build a more organized and livable city.
The drive officially began on Sunday at 3 PM in front of Chashara Zia Hall, led by City Corporation Administrator Advocate Sakhawat Hossain Khan.
Sources say that since taking office, the administrator has held discussions with hawkers, political figures, and community leaders regarding traffic management and eviction efforts.
Although many vendors voluntarily vacated the footpaths, some areas remain occupied.
The operation will continue until the area becomes fully free of illegal occupation.
Administrator Sakhawat Hossain Khan stated that illegal encroachment is causing constant hardship to residents and assured that the drive will continue in the public interest, regardless of pressure or influence.
Several political and social leaders were present during the operation.
