Titas gas intensifies operations against illegal connections

Titas Gas Transmission and Distribution PLC has intensified its enforcement drives against illegal gas connections, disconnecting hundreds of unauthorized lines and collecting significant fines in multiple districts.

A mobile court led by Senior Assistant Commissioner and Executive Magistrate Tarif Al Tawhid carried out an operation in the Chandni Housing area of Fatullah, Narayanganj on Sunday.

During the drive, illegal gas connections of one commercial establishment and 60 households were disconnected, including around 200 residential double-burner units.

Authorities also seized pipes, burners, hose lines, and other equipment. A fine of Tk 10,000 was collected from one residential user.

In a separate operation on the same day, Assistant Commissioner and Executive Magistrate Khalid Saifullah led a drive in the Baluakandi and Anarpura areas of Gazaria, Munshiganj.

Illegal connections at two abandoned lime factories, a hotel and restaurant, driver lodges, and a foundry were dismantled. Several burners were seized and source lines were destroyed.

Meanwhile, another operation was conducted in the Shahjalal Housing area of Mohammadpur, Dhaka, under the supervision of Executive Magistrate Simon Sarkar, along with officials from Titas Gas and law enforcement agencies.

During the drive, illegal connections belonging to multiple individuals were disconnected, including approximately 106 double-burner and 18 single-burner units.

Equipment such as regulators, a booster, and pipeline sections were also removed. Authorities collected fines totaling Tk 400,000 during this operation.

Additionally, joint drives by the Tangail revenue and sales divisions resulted in the disconnection of gas lines from seven residential customers due to unpaid bills and unauthorized usage. A total of 13 double-burner connections were disconnected in the district.

Titas Gas officials said such drives will continue as part of ongoing efforts to curb illegal gas usage and ensure proper distribution of energy resources.
