7-day SME product fair in Sylhet begins April 11

A seven-day regional SME product fair will be held at the Sylhet Divisional Sports Complex ground from April 11 to 17 under the initiative of the Small and Medium Enterprises (SME) Foundation, in cooperation with the Sylhet District Administration.

A preparatory meeting and press conference were held on Wednesday at the conference room of the Deputy Commissioner’s Office to finalise arrangements for the fair.

Organisers said the fair will provide a platform for local small and medium entrepreneurs to display and sell domestic products, including handicrafts.

Organisers also stated that if products displayed by farmers at the fair are not sold, the organizer will purchase them at a fair price. No imported products will be allowed.

To ensure the safety and convenience of visitors, organisers said that police and plainclothes law enforcement officers will be deployed, and CCTV cameras will be installed at the fair premises.

Relevant departments have been assigned responsibilities to ensure uninterrupted power supply, fire safety, clean drinking water, and a healthy environment.

Officials expressed hope that the fair will help expand the market for local products and contribute to the growth of domestic industries.

Additional Deputy Commissioner Saida Parveen, representatives from government and private departments, business leaders, and media personnel attended the press conference.

Deputy Commissioner Md. Sarwar Alam attended the meeting as the chief guest, while Additional Superintendent of Police Md. Raselur Rahman, SME Foundation Managing Director Md. Jahangir Hossain, and Sylhet Sadar Upazila Nirbahi Officer Khoshnur Robayat were present as special guests at thre preparatory meeting.
