Bulbul’s committee was disbanded after allegations were proven
The National Sports Council (NSC) has dissolved the current board of directors of the Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB).
This was announced at a press conference on Tuesday by the NSC’s Director of Sports, Mohammad Aminul Ehsan.
The National Sports Council (NSC) formed an investigation committee based on multiple allegations regarding the 2025 Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB) elections.
The committee recently submitted its report. The report said that evidence of various irregularities, influence peddling and procedural weaknesses was found in the election process. In particular, questions were raised about the unreasonable extension of the deadline for submitting the councilor list, inconsistencies in the publication of voter lists and the transparency of the election process.
Here is the report of the investigation committee:
Allegations of government interference
The investigation report also raised allegations of interference in the election process against former sports advisor Asif Mahmud Shojib Bhuiyan.
According to the committee’s observations, he and his APS Saiful Islam influenced various district and divisional sports organizations to nominate certain individuals as councilors.
This indicates a well-organized effort to influence the election results, the report said.
Allegations of rigging in e-voting The investigation committee also said, the confidentiality of the e-voting system used in the election was not maintained and attempts were made to control it.
It is alleged that many councilors were encouraged or influenced to cast e-votes by gathering at a hotel in the capital. According to the committee, this undermined the freedom and transparency of the vote and violated the basic principles of democratic elections.
Accusations of abuse of power against Bulbul
The report also alleges that BCB president Aminul Islam Bulbul single-handedly nominated 10 former cricketers as councilors.
However, the committee observed that according to the BCB constitution, the president does not have the power to take such a decision alone. The report also mentioned that this could affect the election results.
