Pahela Baishakh preps begin in Khulna
A preparatory meeting was held in Khulna on Tuesday to celebrate Pahela Baishakh, the Bangla New Year 1433, in a festive and befitting manner.
Deputy Commissioner Hoore Jannat chaired the meeting at her conference room.
It was informed that a colourful Baishakhi procession will begin at 8:00 am from the Khulna Railway Station premises and conclude at Shaheed Hadis Park.
Following the procession, a discussion, cultural function, prize distribution ceremony, and a day-long Baishakhi fair will be held at the park starting at 9:30 am.
Bangladesh Shishu Academy and the District Shilpakala Academy will jointly organise drawing and essay competitions for children marking the occasion.
On the day, the Khulna Divisional Museum will remain open to visitors, while traditional foods will be served in prisons and government-run orphanage centres.
Among others, Acting Chief Executive Officer of Zila Parishad Mominur Rahman, Additional Deputy Commissioner (General) Bitan Kumar Mondal, officials from various government offices, and representatives of socio-cultural organisations attended the meeting.
