N’ganj DC orders joint action to curb dengue

Narayanganj District Commissioner Mohammad Raihan Kabir has directed all government departments to work in coordination to prevent the spread of dengue in the district.

He also instructed officials to regularly monitor schools, colleges, playgrounds, and government and private institutions to ensure that stagnant water does not create breeding grounds for Aedes mosquitoes. The directives came at the monthly meeting of the District Development and Coordination Committee, held at the conference room of the Narayanganj Deputy Commissioner’s Office .

The meeting, chaired by the district commissioner, discussed a range of issues, including the district’s overall development, law and order, public health, dengue prevention, cleanliness drives, and improving the quality of government services.

Describing the dengue situation as one of the major challenges at present, DC Raihan Kabir said, “I am instructing all heads of departments to ensure that no stagnant water accumulates in your offices, schools, colleges, playgrounds, or any institution under your jurisdiction, creating breeding grounds for Aedes mosquitoes. Regular monitoring must be carried out.”

“Dengue prevention is not the sole responsibility of the health department; it is everyone’s responsibility. Coordination is a prerequisite for development. All departments must work as one team so that people receive services quickly and without harassment,” he added.
