Cargo handling in Ctg Port improves in first 9 months of FY26

The Chittagong port has achieved significant growth in each area of cargo handling, container transport and number of ship arrivals in the current fiscal year of 2025-26.

Especially in the month of October 2025, a record growth of 21.11 per cent was achieved in cargo transport.

This success has come as a result of the stabilization of the economy and an increase in the import of fuel and raw materials.

It can be seen that 10,42,98,658 metric tons of cargo were handled in the first nine months of the fiscal year 2025-26, which is 7.39 per cent more than the same period of the fiscal year 2024-25.

The months of August and September 2025 were very important in terms of container transport. A growth of 20.10 per cent was recorded in August and 10.22 per cent in September.

Modernization and automation in terminal management have reduced container congestion and enabled faster cargo unloading.

A review of the data received shows that 25,72,346 TEUs of containers were handled in the first nine months of the fiscal year 2025-26,which is 4.75 per cent more than the same period of the fiscal year 2024-25.

The average turnaround time of ships at the port has been reduced from 4 days to 2.53 days.

As a result, a maximum of 391 ships were handled in the month of October 2025, which is 16.02 per cent more than the previous year.

In addition, a total of 3,230 ships were handled in the first nine months of the fiscal year 2025-26, which is 5.62per cent more than the same period of the fiscal year 2024-25.
