Police to install 250 CCTV cameras in Kishoreganj

The district police are planning to install around 250 CCTV cameras across Kishoreganj the town to strengthen surveillance, curb crime and enforce traffic rules.

The initiative aims to prevent crimes such as juvenile gang activities, mugging, terrorism, extortion and drug trafficking while improving overall law and order in the town.

Superintendent of Police (SP) Mizanur Rahman Shelly told The New Nation that at least 250 CCTV cameras are being installed in the town, which has recently witnessed an increase in criminal activities involving teenage gangs and drug trafficking.

“We will install 250 more CCTV cameras across the town to strengthen surveillance and curb crime,” he said, adding that the expanded surveillance network would significantly improve security monitoring and help make Kishoreganj safer for residents.

SP Mizanur Rahman Shelly said members of juvenile gangs are involved in various criminal activities using sharp weapons and that authorities are working to identify them and bring them to justice.

He said criminals involved in extortion, mugging, narcotics trafficking and other offences are being arrested.

Police have also intensified block raids, patrols, checkpoints and plainclothes intelligence surveillance in crime-prone areas.
