Fuel trader gets 7 days’ jail
A mobile court on Wednesday sentenced an illegal fuel trader to seven days in jail in Debiganj upazila.
The convict has been identified as Keshob Ray, son of Subash Ray of Sonaher village.
According to mobile court sources, Keshob Ray had been illegally storing petrol and selling it on the open market at an inflated price. During the crisis period, petrol was being sold at Tk 300 per liter.
The drive was conducted by Debiganj Upazila Nirbahi Officer (UNO) and Executive Magistrate Sabuj Kumar Bosak.
Officer-in-Charge of Debiganj Police Station Selim Malik, along with other police personnel, was present during the drive.
The convict was later sent to Panchagarh Jail.
