Muhammad Raj: From Personal Transformation to a Global Humanitarian Voice

Muhammad Raj, born and raised in a Brahmin family with a traditional aristocratic background, has today become a devoted Islamic preacher and humanitarian figure. After embracing Islam, he went through many trials and challenges. Over time, he has emerged as a source of hope and support for millions of vulnerable people.

He currently serves as the Director General of the government-registered national humanitarian organization Hafezzi Charitable Society of Bangladesh, and also holds the position of Director of International Humanitarian Affairs at the SAARC Human Rights Foundation.

At present, Muhammad Raj is visiting Egypt along with his team to coordinate and expand humanitarian assistance programs for the war-affected people of Gaza and Sudan.

In April 2023, a power struggle in Sudan led to a devastating civil war. Later that year, on October 7, the war in Gaza erupted, creating one of the most severe humanitarian crises in recent history. Since then, Muhammad Raj and his team at Hafezzi have been continuously conducting humanitarian operations in Gaza and Sudan. They have been delivering food, clean water, medical assistance, and financial aid to affected communities in the Gaza Strip and Palestinian refugee camps in Egypt.

Through these efforts, Muhammad Raj has been representing Bangladesh on the global stage through humanitarian service. International media outlet Al Jazeera broadcast live coverage of Team Hafezzi’s humanitarian activities from the devastated areas of Gaza. Through these initiatives, the red and green flag of Bangladesh was seen in the hands of oppressed people and even in the sacred land of Jerusalem through Al Jazeera’s cameras.

His humanitarian efforts have also been reported by Palestine TV, BBC, and various national media outlets in Bangladesh, Egypt, and Palestine, bringing international attention to the work of Muhammad Raj, Team Hafezzi, and Bangladesh.

During his visit to Egypt, Muhammad Raj held several important meetings in Cairo aimed at expanding humanitarian operations. These included meetings with Palestinian Ambassador to Egypt and influential diplomatic figure Diab Al-Louh, the Ambassador of Sudan, Dr. Amal Imam (Executive Director of the Egyptian Red Crescent Society), and the Acting Palestinian Ambassador to Jordan, among other diplomatic personalities.

He also met Mohamed Mamdouh, Chairman of the Board of Trustees of the Egyptian Youth Council (EYC), as well as Ms. Jian, Head of the Palestinian Humanitarian Department in Egypt. Representatives from various international human rights organizations also participated in these discussions and praised the humanitarian work of Muhammad Raj and Team Hafezzi.

Beyond Gaza and Sudan, Muhammad Raj and his team have extended their humanitarian missions to Afghanistan, Nepal, and Jordan over the past two years, delivering aid to communities affected by disasters and poverty. They have also provided assistance to impoverished communities in Nigeria.

Within Bangladesh, Muhammad Raj’s humanitarian initiatives have had a significant impact. Under the project titled “In Search of Jannah”, more than 350 impoverished patients have received life-saving surgeries. Through free medical camps, over 150,000 patients have received medicines worth millions of taka.

Through livelihood programs, thousands of unemployed and disabled individuals have received livestock, sewing machines, and auto-rickshaws to help them become self-reliant. Under the tube-well installation project, approximately 250 tube wells have been installed in remote areas to provide safe drinking water.

In addition, 12 maktabs (Islamic primary schools) have been established in northern and southern Bangladesh. Through winter relief programs, 122,000 blankets have been distributed, while 163,000 people have received emergency assistance during disasters.

Muhammad Raj regularly shares updates of these humanitarian activities on his official Facebook pages, where nearly three million followers keep track of his work.

He is also a respected writer who frequently addresses contemporary issues related to Islam, society, and governance. His book “Thoughts of Raj” has received wide appreciation among readers.

Due to his remarkable humanitarian contributions at both national and international levels, Muhammad Raj has received numerous awards. These include the International Peace Award 2024, a recognition presented by Bangladesh’s Ambassador to Egypt Sabina Naz, the Global Business and CSR Award 2025, and the Nepal–Bangladesh International Excellence Award, presented in Kathmandu by Nepal’s Prime Minister KP Sharma Oli and Minister Bardi Prasad.

Despite his accomplishments, Muhammad Raj is widely known for his humility. However, in principle and commitment, he remains steadfast and unwavering. In both his personal and organizational life, he follows the guidance of prominent Islamic scholars, including Arefbillah Mufti Jafar Ahmad (Pir Saheb Dhalkanagar) and Maulana Mahfuzul Haque, Secretary General of the Befaq Board.

Under the supervision and advice of these scholars, the activities of the Hafezzi Charitable Society of Bangladesh continue to operate.

Muhammad Raj is not only a pride of Bangladesh but also a symbol of hope for the wider Muslim Ummah. Through his leadership and dedication, a once small organization has grown into a recognized international humanitarian force.

His efforts to position Bangladesh as a nation of generosity and humanitarian leadership in international media will remain a remarkable chapter in history.

It is the hope of many that Bangladesh will recognize and honor Muhammad Raj with the appreciation he truly deserves.
