Dhaka WASA MD resigns
Abdus Salam Bapari, Managing Director (MD) of Dhaka Water Supply and Sewerage Authority (WASA), has resigned. On Sunday, he submitted his resignation to the office of the Secretary at the Ministry of Local Government, which was subsequently accepted.
A source at the Ministry of Local Government confirmed the information.
Abdus Salam had been appointed as MD of Dhaka WASA through a controversial process during the final period of the caretaker government.
Previously, he served as the Additional Chief Engineer of the same organisation, during which allegations of corruption were raised against him.
Dhaka WASA Public Information Officer Imrul Hasan told the media that the MD, Abdus Salam Bapari, has resigned.
Meanwhile, the Criminal Investigation Department (CID) has stated that an investigation has begun into allegations of money laundering abroad against Abdus Salam.
